Hand made Zuni Tribe basket from the 1950's

The Zuni are Native American Pueblo peoples native to the Zuni River valley. The Zuni are a Federally recognized tribe and most live in the Pueblo of Zuni on the Zuni River, a tributary of the Little Colorado River, in western New Mexico, United States.

Archaeologists have found evidence of baskets dating back almost 8,000 years. As with most forms of handmade Native American crafts, each tribe has its own distinct basket forms and designs. Basket weaving is one of the oldest forms of Native American crafts.
